You’ve heard me talk a lot at this blog about Autism151.com, our effort to bring together stories of hope and inspiration. There are other efforts being made throughout the Internet world in different ways to connect those touched by autism.
One of these fantastic sites is Letters to Our Children Living with Autism. This is a place people came go to share letters and stories they’ve written to their children. These letters are really amazing and often beautifully written, capturing what I’d imagine many of us think and feel ourselves.
The site was developed in response to the cuts in early intensive therapy for children with autism in British Columbia. The stories are there to raise awareness of the importance of early intensive therapy – which is something I wholeheartedly agree with. We don’t have a cause. We don’t have one cure. What we have right now are treatment options. It’s so important for families to have the support they need to get their children the right treatment – so I hope these letters get heard.
What does autism mean to us today? It means supporting treatment any way we can. What about you?
Best,
Jenifer
