Hemi-Sync® uses "audio-guidance" technology to influence brain-wave activity.
First Developed:
This product has been developed, modified and sold for over 40 years.
Overall Philosophy:
The Hemi-Sync method uses audio-guidance technology to send different sounds to each ear through headphones. The two hemispheres of the brain then act in unison to "hear a third signal," the difference between the two tones. This is not an actual sound, but an electrical signal that can only be perceived within the brain. Hemi-sync is similar to hypnosis in that the sounds help to move the listener into a relaxed state, and through different levels of consciousness without drifting off into sleep. The end-goal is to bring about enhanced mental, physical and emotional states. There are no subliminal suggestions.
Popularity:
Peaceful techniques that use guided imagery and meditation have gained popularity over the years. In addition, many therapists, physicians, educators, and other professionals use Hemi-Sync extensively.
Time Required for the Treatment:
The makers of Hemi-Sync claim users feel success from the first use, but recommend repeated usage to reinforce and deepen the experience.
Who Directs the Treatment?
This is a CD-based program; the user determines when and how often to use the materials.
Treatment Cost:
Check website below for a varied collection of CDs.
Training Materials Required:
CDs purchased from Hemi-Sync and ordinary headphones.
How is Success Defined:
Hemi-Sync doesn't define success or failure; deeper consciousness is achieved at the pace required by each individual.
Biggest Success Story:
Studies indicate that deeper relaxation can be achieved much faster after utilizing these treatments. When Hemi-Sync CDs are played in the classroom, teachers report fewer behavior issues, a greater ability for students to stay on task and a more positive feeling at the end of the day. When used in a special-education setting, children who normally have trouble sleeping returned to school having slept through the night (often for the first time).
